Jan Willoughby is Director of www.highlypalatable.com - NZ's leading
specialist food & wine tourism consultancy. Over the past 10 years she has
worked in the areas of national and regional food and wine tourism strategies,
food & wine tourism trails development, national product development projects,
wine tourism business mentoring and international projects including judging the
Le Cordon Bleu World Food Media Awards since 2005.
Jan has built an extensive
network with wine regions throughout Australia and New Zealand, attending
Australasian Food Wine Tourism Network Conferences 2001-2004 and was a speaker
at the Australasian Regional Food Wine Tourism Conference (McLaren Vale, SA
2003).
Jan has additionally visited France, California, Tuscany, Spain, Portugal,
Hungary and Croatian wine regions to research best practice case studies
in global food and wine tourism. Jan has supported the development of
NZ's inaugural food & wine tourism strategy, undertaken ongoing consulting
to the NZ Food & Wine Tourism Network since 2005 and was a recent
contributor to the inaugural; "State of the Culinary Tourism
2010/Destination Readiness Index" study (published Feb 2010) on NZ's
culinary tourism sector. Jan continues to passionately support the
development of the food and wine tourism sector across NZ and
business/product development for individual clients.
Jan holds a BCom degree from the University of Otago (International/Tourism
Marketing)and has more than 20 years experience in the NZ tourism industry as an
international destination marketer, at both national and regional marketing
levels across both the public and private sectors. Jan has facilitated tourism
industry seminars throughout NZ regions (2005 & 2007), as well as working with a
number of private clients to develop their business capability in international
tourism market development.
